Puzzle #57 -
Springbok - Blissful Borough - 1000 pieces
So this one, sadly, turned into a real disappointment. Ironically, I think I knew that was going to happen. (I mean, look at all those trees and sky and pavement!!) I chose it to begin and then almost immediately had second thoughts. I wasn't even finished turning all the pieces over when I considered putting it back in the box. Then again, when I took that first update photo, I thought, this is going to not be much fun and almost put it away. But each time I talked myself into continuing.
To it's credit, parts of it WERE fun. The houses turned out to be very fun and challenging - not frustrating. The fact that Springbok uses larger pieces certainly made this possible. I think it would have ALL been awful if it had been the smaller pieces like the Hennessy puzzle. And the pavement turned out to not be bad. Even the sky was not as bad as expected. But oh, the trees. ugh. What a chore. Awful. Not fun at all! And because of the wonky random shaped pieces, you can't just sort by shape and hammer it out. Literally up to the last 3 pieces I was still struggling (granted it was almost 1:00 am - I was NOT going to bed until I had finished the doggone thing!) ha!
Sooooo.... I still love Springbok, but need to remember to avoid so many trees. Terrible stuff. Note - it was all made worse by the fact that there is no poster. I simply can't see the image on the box well enough to distinguish anything. I could tell the trees were different and there would be clues with the branches and leaves, but I could not see them. My old eyes but also, just a box image. Why won't they put nice sized posters in with puzzles??? Masterpieces and Buffalo have EVERYONE beat on this feature. It makes a puzzle so much more enjoyable to be able to SEE the image and then distinguish between areas - like trees. Good will is worth a lot of money... companies should consider this.
