Puzzle #73 - White Mountain - Love Stories - 1000 pieces

Puzzle #73 - White Mountain - Love Stories - 1000 pieces

This is going to be a really tough one I think!  It took me quite awhile to put that Love Stories part together.  Will attempt the border this evening.

It isn't as tough as I thought it would be (beyond that border!)  But it is always intriguing how differently I put together a collage from a regular puzzle.  There is no working on one particular spot.  You just pick up pieces and figure out where they go and lay them down - then it slowly comes together. When I get this whole thing put together I want to spend some time and see if I can figure out every single reference in it.  Many of the Love Stories I am familiar with - either songs or movies or actual couples.  But several I am not.  So I think it will be interesting to try to figure them all out once it is fully put together  Fun and relaxing puzzle so far.

Fun puzzle.  Enjoyed looking at the different couples and songs and iconic images representing Love Stories.  I wish I had thought to take a closer up look at 'Luke and Laura' from General Hospital.  I do remember that I managed to stay home sick the day their characters were married and saw it live on TV!  ha!  That was before DVR - heck that was before VCR's!  If you missed it, you missed it!  I can't remember how many viewers that episode had but know it was record breaking.  :)

Such a fun puzzle to put together.  Looking in closely at many sections of it - to see who you recognize and their 'Love Story'.  Very fun indeed.

Luke and Laura are visible in this photo... :)

I love the larger overall size of White Mountain puzzles.  Hate their excessive puzzle dust, but that is the price you pay.  :)  Happy to have the poster, even though it is not very big.  It is still a poster!

Puzzle #72 - White Mountain - Writer's Desk - 1000 pieces

Puzzle #72 - White Mountain - Writer's Desk - 1000 pieces

It's funny... I didn't really take any notes about this puzzle, but I do remember putting it together and thoroughly enjoying the experience.

When I take a photo like this it means I had to sort by shape to complete the puzzle.  :D

Finished this puzzle up.  It was a good puzzle - the last bit was harder than expected but just a challenge.  Not frustrating.

Puzzle #71 - Cobble Hill - Archie - 500 pieces

Puzzle #71 - Cobble Hill - Archie - 500 pieces
So this is another one of those puzzles I bought from Barnes and Noble.  I didn't realize that many (all?) of their puzzles are slightly different than if you purchase them from the puzzle company directly or through Amazon.  Must be an 'exclusive' thing, but I don't care for it.  The puzzles I have purchased from Barnes and Noble have come in much smaller boxes than normal with puzzle images that are hard to impossible to make out and, in this case, no poster even though Cobble Hill is very good about including a poster with each puzzle.  So, while the quality of the puzzle is good (and has been for each I have bought from Barnes and Noble), there are other factors that lessen my enjoyment.  So I would suggest that if you find a puzzle image you like at Barnes and Noble, first look to see if that image by the same company is available from them or through amazon - and check the piece count.  This is a 500 piece count puzzle, but when sold by Cobble Hill is a 1000 piece count puzzle (same image).  Lesson learned.

Here are my notes from the puzzle - Wow, this one was way easier than I expected it to be.  It was really like a 300 piece puzzle. Fun but so easy. Very loose fitting so it kept coming apart.  No puzzle dust to speak of.  I wonder about this being a Cobble Hill, though.  the only place it says their name is in one spot.  I bought this from Barnes and Noble.  Don't think it would be a copycat - but it certainly didn't feel like normal Cobble Hill quality.  Not bad, just not quite the same.  And no poster, which Cobble Hill usually provides.  A pleasant diversion but definitely want a 1000 piece puzzle next.

you can see it is a smaller, square box

Puzzle #70 - MasterPieces - Travel Diary London - 550 pieces

Puzzle #70 - MasterPieces - Travel Diary London - 550 pieces

I enjoy the Travel Diary series.  Still have a couple more to do but this one spoke to me tonight :)  Noticing this is by a different puzzle artist than I have seen before.  Hiro Tanakawa.  Easy puzzle but relaxing and enjoyable.  That, to me, is a lovely puzzle experience.  Realizing the pieces don't fit together on Masterpieces as well as other brands like Cobble Hill, Ravensburger, White Mountain, even Vermont Christmas Company.  I didn't realize that back when, but now I have put together more brands and can compare. This one has more puzzle dust than Vermont Christmas Company.  But no one has as much puzzle dust as White Mountain!  And OH how I LOVE that huge poster with White Mountain!!!  Pure Joy!!!

Very nice puzzle - all done

Puzzle #69 - Vermont Christmas Company - Beachside Lighthouse - 550 pieces

Puzzle #69 - Vermont Christmas Company - Beachside Lighthouse - 550 pieces

Nice sized pieces - no puzzle dust at all. Pleasant experience to put together.  HOWEVER, this small puzzle has had a shocking number of false fits!  If it were a larger puzzle with smaller pieces it would be pretty frustrating, I imagine. They are hard to figure out they don't fit... but I have so far.  Wish I had taken photos throughout to show how many times it happened.  Picture by David Maclean.

Finished it and it was fun.  A bit dark and too many grasses and trees.  :)   There were a LOT of false fits throughout.  Again, at 550 it wasn't too bad.  Would not have liked a 1000 piece to do that.  Don't feel like the Vermont Christmas Country 1000 pieces do that (so many false fits) so not sure what is up. David Maclean puzzle image - nice.

very peaceful looking image
